SecureNet Constraints

Requirements for successful onboarding. Please read before purchasing.

Our philosophy: It's better to lose a sale than create an unhappy customer who can't use the product. These constraints protect you from purchasing something that won't work in your environment.

Hard Stops

If any of these apply, SecureNet is not a fit for your situation. These are non-negotiable.

🚫Cannot Proceed If:

ISP equipment has no bridge mode and you cannot purchase a standalone modem.
SecureNet must be the network gateway.
Your ISP requires their equipment with no bypass option.
Some fiber providers lock customers to their hardware.
You cannot see small screen details during a video call.
Consultation requires following mouse movements on shared screens.
Safari is your only browser.
Google Meet features required for consultation don't work properly in Safari. Chrome or Edge required.
Basic computer literacy is a challenge.
You must be able to navigate web interfaces and follow verbal instructions.

Not sure about bridge mode? We verify ISP compatibility during the free Introduction Call before any purchase. If there's a problem, we'll find it before you spend money.

Technical Requirements

These must be in place before your onboarding consultation begins.

🌐Chrome or Edge Browser Google Meet chat function used for secure credential exchange
🔌Hardware Plugged In Vault and AP powered on and connected before consultation
🖥️Adequate Screen Size Laptop or desktop monitor. Mobile phones are insufficient.
📧App Password Ready Gmail, Outlook, or similar. Required for hardware monitoring alerts.

Pre-Consultation Checklist

Vault powered on (all LEDs active)
Access Point connected to Port 1
Modem in bridge mode (or standalone modem)
Chrome or Edge browser installed
App password generated for email alerts
25 minutes of uninterrupted time available

Capability Requirements

You must be able to perform these tasks independently during and after onboarding.

Self-Assessment Questions

Q:Can you join a Zoom or Google Meet call without assistance?
Q:Can you change the WiFi network on your phone?
Q:Can you plug an Ethernet cable into a specific port when shown?
Q:Do you know what an IP address looks like? (e.g., 192.168.1.1)
Q:Can you set aside 25 focused minutes without interruption?

If more than two answers are "no," SecureNet may not be the right fit. The technology is enterprise-grade and requires baseline technical comfort.

After Onboarding, You Are Responsible For:

📱Reconnecting Your Devices Moving phones, laptops, tablets to appropriate WiFi networks
🖨️Smart Device WiFi Setup Printers, cameras, thermostats, smart TVs, etc.

OSS cannot remote into your devices. We configure SecureNet and create your WiFi networks. You connect your devices to them.

Setting Expectations

Clear boundaries prevent misunderstandings.

What SecureNet IS

One-time professional configuration
Enterprise-grade security you own
Self-service after onboarding
Restore-from-backup support model
Hardware you own outright

What SecureNet IS NOT

Managed service with ongoing remote access
Subscription-dependent functionality
24/7 IT support hotline
"Fix my custom changes" support
Leased or rented equipment

What OSS Does Not Support

To keep consultations focused and effective, certain issues are outside our scope.

Category Example Contact Instead
Third-party devices Printer won't connect to WiFi Device manufacturer
ISP issues Internet outage, slow speeds Your ISP
Modified configurations "I changed firewall rules and broke something" Restore from backup
Network design consulting "Should I run cable to my garage?" IT consultant / electrician
Device troubleshooting "My laptop won't connect to anything" Device manufacturer

A Note on Smart Devices

SecureNet creates isolated networks for security. Understanding how your devices communicate helps set expectations.

Cloud-Controlled Devices (Most Common)

Ring, Nest, Ecobee, Alexa, Google Home, and similar devices work fine on isolated networks because control flows through the internet. Your phone talks to the cloud, the cloud talks to the device.

Local-Only Devices (Less Common)

Some devices require your phone to be on the same network for initial setup or control (Chromecast setup, AirPlay, local-only smart switches). These need special consideration during onboarding.

Quick test: Can you control the device from cellular (away from home)? If yes, it's cloud-controlled and will work fine on an isolated network.

Before You Purchase
